Out of the box Geolocations uses the surprisingly accurate community driven IP address to location API provided hostip.info.
However some people have asked us to supply integrations with their favourite premium IP to Location services like the ones put out by IP2Location and MaxMind.
That's why we're happy to announce that Geolocations v1.2 now supports both of these services.
ThirstyAffiliates Geolocations IP2Location Integration
IP2Location is a proprietary, high accuracy, IP address lookup database that can boost the location detection accuracy of the Geolocations add-on even further.
You simply upload the .bin country database file received when you sign up to their service.
Additionally, we also provide an integration with IP2Location's new web service which can be used by purchasing bulk credits and inputting your API key into the Geolocations add-on settings.
ThirstyAffiliates Geolocations MaxMind GeoIP2 Integration
MaxMind‘s GeoIP2 database is another alternative like IP2Location and provides very high accuracy IP address to location lookup. Their IP address lookup database can boost the location detection accuracy of the Geolocations add-on even further.
We've integrated both their standalone database and their web service so you can get the best IP address segregation on the market.
To use MaxMind's database simply upload the .mmdb country database file received when you sign up to their service or enter your Web Service API credentials in the settings and Geolocations takes care of the rest.
